COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — Detectives charged a man after a shooting at a Columbus park killed a woman and injured a second person.
Columbus police said 19-year-old Carson S. King was arrested and charged with murder after shots rang out at Mock Park on May 7.
Officers were called to the park after the shooting, but two victims were driven away. First responders then made contact with them near Joyce Avenue and Minnesota Avenue, and two women were taken to hospitals for medical treatment.
18-year-old Aujai Davenport was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition and was pronounced dead at 10:05 p.m. The other woman was taken to Riverside Methodist Hospital in stable condition.
Police say three others were in the car with the gunshot victims, including two juveniles. Calls to 911 captured frantic screams as call takers tried to locate them.
Other 911 callers reported younger and older teens fist-fighting before about five to seven shots were fired.
Detectives wrote in charging documents for King that he was identified through cell phone video nd surveillance video. Witness interviews also pointed to King.
He is set to be arraigned Saturday in Franklin County Municipal Court for murder.
