Two people were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of attempted murder and kidnapping in a Denver shooting the night before, according to the police department.
Stephen Harper, 53, and Tiffany Earvin, 39, were both arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree murder and attempted second-degree kidnapping, according to a news release from the Denver Police Department.
They were booked into Denver’s Downtown Detention Center on Wednesday, jail records show.
Just after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Denver police responded to reports of a shooting in an apartment in the 2300 block of Court Place, according to the release. That’s on the south edge of the city’s Five Points neighborhood.
Officers found one man who had been shot and discovered the baby of a woman living in the same apartment had been taken, police said. Paramedics took the man to the hospital.
Harper, Earvin and the baby were all found in a neighboring residential building the next day, according to the release.
The baby did not appear to have been harmed but was taken to the hospital as a precaution, police said.
Police said the people involved in the shooting and kidnapping were all known to each other, but they didn’t say how. There also may have been other conflicts between the two groups before the shooting, police said.
