JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – It’s been almost two weeks since the structure fire at the hourly garage at the Jacksonville International Airport, and viewers are still reaching out to News4JAX asking when they will be able to get their cars, and asking if we have any answers.
Well, we tried to get those answers on Thursday.

Last week, News4JAX spoke with Michael Stewart with the Jacksonville Aviation Authority.
“Currently, I could not give a specific date,” he said then. “We have cars that are going to be lifted off and moved, we have cars tha…we’re talking days to weeks at the minimum.”
On Thursday, Jacksonville International Airport provided photos of crews actively working and said, “Crews are still working to shore up structurally compromised portions of the hourly garage so that we can safely remove additional vehicles and return them to their owners. At this time we cannot speculate a timeframe but we are working as quickly and as safely as possible.”
The airport also posted on X, letting people know that they could call the call center if they have not been contacted and that they’ll be closing at 1 p.m.
Airport officials tell me that this is still day to day and unless you get that phone call or text message saying you can come pick up your car to just sit tight, they know it’s frustrating, but once you get that call, you’ll be able to do so.
