A 19-year-old man who police say was shot and killed in the driver’s seat of a parked car in New Bedford late last month is being remembered for “his vibrant spirit.”

New Bedford resident Jordan Roman was found dead in the driver’s seat of a Hyundai Sonata around 10 p.m. on April 29, the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said previously. At the time, the car was parked on the east side of Acushnet Avenue near Griffin Court.

Police responded to the shooting shortly after it happened, but Roman was declared dead at St. Luke’s Hospital, the district attorney’s office said. The Hyundai was found to have been damaged by “multiple projectile strikes.”

Jordan “Jojo” Roman was born Oct. 20, 2005, in New Bedford, to Erick Roman and Stephanie Theodore, according to his obituary.

“A 2022 high school graduate, Jordan was known for his vibrant spirit, loyalty to family, and love of engines — whether it was dirt bikes, cars, or anything that roared to life. He had a passion for riding, and he always made time to dress sharply and express his unique style,” his obituary reads.

“Jordan was the heart of his home — the man of the house — and carried that role with pride and care. He was deeply devoted to his family, especially his mom, and loved spending time surrounded by those closest to him. His presence brought joy, laughter, and comfort to all who knew him.”

Roman is survived by his parents, three siblings, and many other beloved friends and relatives, according to his obituary.

“Jordan’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved him — a son, a brother, a grandson, a friend, and a light gone far too soon,” his obituary reads.
