A Fort Worth man is facing charges of assault and burglary after police say he attacked his mother with a machete.

According to Fort Worth police, officers were dispatched at about 11:10 a.m. Friday to the 3000 block of Elsinor Drive on a domestic disturbance call. Police said a man at the location attacked his mother with a machete, causing her serious injuries.

Police said the man fled the home and showed up at a nearby residence, where the homeowner fired a round at him but missed. Responding officers then arrested the man, who was identified as Isaac de Jon Roberts, 21.

Police said Roberts’ mother was taken to the hospital “in critical but stable condition.” Police did not have an update on her status Saturday.

Roberts was booked into the Tarrant County jail Saturday. He faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and burglary of a habitation. His bond was not yet set.

Roberts’ attorney from a previous case did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment Saturday.
