Funeral information has been released for a Boston woman who was killed in a homicide last month.

Allston resident Peggy Yousuf, 77, died in what police described as an “unknown incident,” possibly of domestic violence. Officers learned of the incident at 82 Glenville Ave. around 7:45 p.m., police said.

After a citywide search, officers arrested 26-year-old Boston resident Omar Riaz following an attempted carjacking at 50 Quint Ave., police said. He was arraigned in Brighton District Court and charged with murder, armed carjacking and resisting arrest.

Yousuf “had a familial relationship with Riaz,” Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney Julie Higgins said in a previous statement. She “sustained significant trauma to her head, likely caused by a baseball bat and/or sword,” Higgins added.

Peggy A. Biby Yousuf was born to Mary and Emmett Biby in Waynesboro, Virginia, where she grew up, according to her obituary. A long-time Allston resident, she cared for others as a home health aide for many years.

Yousuf was preceded in death by her two sons, according to her obituary. She is survived by her sister, daughter, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren and many other friends and relatives.

A celebration of Yousuf’s life will be held on Friday, May 16, at Casper Funeral Home in Boston from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., according to her obituary.
