Morganton shooting leaves 1 person dead

The shooting happened on Crawley Higgins Avenue in Morganton on Saturday.

MORGANTON, N.C. — One person was killed in a shooting in Morganton on Saturday.

The shooting happened on Saturday around 9:45 a.m. on Crawley Higgins Avenue, according to the Burke County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the shooting happened after an altercation between two people. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff’s office did not say if the shooting suspect was arrested.

Officials have not released the names of the victim or the suspect.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation are looking into the incident.
