Charlotte ranks 39th in Zumper’s latest list of most expensive places to rent in the U.S.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A recent report is breaking down trends in rent pricing, showing the most and least expensive places to rent in different metros. Charlotte cracked the top 50 list for most expensive cities to rent at No. 39 on the Zumper National Rent Report.

That ranking comes due to a median one-bedroom rent of $1,470 and a two-bedroom rent going for $1,700.

In the Charlotte metro, the Queen City is unsurprisingly the most expensive city for rent. Still, Mooresville is not far behind with one-bedrooms at $1,400. The state median for a one bedroom rent was $1,177 in April.

The least expensive city to rent in within the Charlotte metro was Statesville, with one-bedrooms for rent priced at $1,040. It’s not all good news for Statesville, though. Zumper noted Statesville had the second-fastest growing rent in the metro, with a year-over-year increase of 7.2%.

Nationally, Zumper’s rent index found April was the third consecutive month of flat rent prices or declining rent prices, though rents were still up on average year-over-year.
