A decades-old restaurant and caterer located just outside of Boston is shutting down very soon.

Via Lago will close its doors at the end of May after 37 years, owner Alan Jick wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday.

The owner said that “our time in this place” has come to an end alongside the restaurant’s lease terms.

“It has been a fantastic multigenerational run,” Jick wrote in the post.

“There are no words to describe how much I appreciate you all. For your business, for your loyalty, for your friendship and for your support,” he said. “You folks, our amazing and hard-working staff of over 37 years, and this crazy place have been my life’s work, and I thank you for that.”

Via Lago opened in 1988, according to the restaurant’s Yelp page. By day, the 70-seat cafe-style bistro is a common spot for breakfast, sandwiches, soups, daily hot lunch specials and fresh salads. By night, Via Lago is a neighborhood go-to for a romantic dinner paired with cocktails and other spirits.

The independently-owned and restaurant also offers corporate and full-service catering.

Via Lago is located at 1845 Massachusetts Ave., Lexington.
