CMPD is searching for a hit-and-run victim forcibly taken by a man.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is searching for a female pedestrian who witnesses say was struck by a vehicle and then forcibly removed from the scene Wednesday night.

Officers responded to Toddville Road near Freedom Drive around 10:30 p.m. after witnesses reported seeing a vehicle hit a woman and then a man taking her from the area against her will, according to police.

The driver also damaged a utility box and pole, causing a temporary closure of Toddville Road.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male with short hair and a muscular build who wasn’t wearing a shirt at the time of the incident.

The victim is believed to be Hispanic, between 18 and 25 years old, with black shoulder-length hair. She was reportedly wearing a white shirt and black shorts.

Detectives from the department’s Homicide Unit are seeking information about both the victim and the suspect vehicle, described as a gold SUV with front-end damage.

Police are asking anyone with information to call 704-432-TIPS and speak directly with a Homicide Unit detective. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, police said.
