Wendy’s has already jumped to flashy brand-name partnerships with its new Frosty experiments. Fortunately, they taste pretty good.
I just wish they would chill out with their naming process.
“Pop-Tarts Strawberry Fusion Frosty” is way too many words. That’s before even getting into whether you want it made with a chocolate or vanilla Frosty base.
It’s like a mix between a password to get into a speakeasy and a complicated NFL playcall.

Wendy’s Pop-Tarts Strawberry Fusion Frosty | Review
After years of being limited to just two permutations of the famous ice cream/milkshake with an identity crisis, we’ve now seen the Frosty options as Wendy’s blow wide open.
While there are still just two base flavors, Wendy’s has started to add a series of mix-ins to spice up their Frosty game. Their Girl Scout Cookie Frosty experiment from earlier this year was just a warm-up.
Wendy’s now offers “Oreo brownie twist,” “strawberry,” “caramel,” “caramel crunch” and “brownie batter” as mix-in options. But the option to get Strawberry Pop-Tarts added remains the most ambitious option.
The full Pop-Tarts fusion involves a strawberry swirl around the cup along with crumbled Pop-Tarts mixed into the frosty – with some extra crumbled on top.
What does it taste like?
The first thing I noticed when trying this is that Pop-Tarts apparently get very crunchy when mixed into ice cream. I figured they’d be soggier.
In terms of mix-in level, it’s less of a fusion and more of an emphatic topping. It’s definitely not up there with like a McFlurry or blizzard
The Pop-Tarts aren’t the star of the show. It’s more of a recurring guest role that adds some crunch and strawberry flavor.
Between the two versions, I found myself enjoying the vanilla more. The Frosty combines with the Pop-Tarts to create a pleasing “strawberry shortcake” experience.
The chocolate version was solid, giving off a big “chocolate-covered strawberry” vibe. But I think the vanilla version does a better job of combining flavors that play off each other.
Overall, I wish there were more added to Frosty. It’s nice to get the little swirl of strawberry and the occasional bite of Pop-Tart crumble. But I did find myself hunting through the Frosty to find more of them.
So are they any good?
As I always stress with these sorts of things, yes. Of course, it’s good. It’s ice cream. But also kind of a milkshake.
Whatever a Frosty is defined as, it tastes good. But there is room for improvement.
I personally like the vanilla a little more. But if you’re the type of person who has their eyes on the chocolate section of a tub of Neapolitan ice cream, then go for that instead.
The final word
Just don’t try to mix both versions together to try and make a Neapolitan Pop-Tarts Super Fusion. I tried this, and all I did was make both of them worse.
