The founder of BuzzBallz, the Carrollton-based company that produces spherical cocktails to go, has purchased a Plano home for a record-breaking $15.9 million.
Collin County deed records show that Merrilee Kick and her husband Timothy purchased 5805 Red Wolf Lane on May 12 from Matthew Rutledge, founder of internet retailer “Woot!”. The deed does not include the price.
Perry-Miller Streiff Group of Dave Perry-Miller Real Estate handled the listing. In a news release, the firm said the home sold for $15.9 million two days after hitting the market. It is the highest-priced residential sale recorded in Plano and Collin County in the North Texas Real Estate Information Services MLS.
Ryan Streiff was the listing agent. The news release does not identify the buyer.
Attempts to contact Streiff and Kick before publication were not returned.
“This sale speaks volumes about the vitality of the luxury market in North Texas,” Streiff said in the release. “We anticipated that this estate would make a statement—and we made sure the right buyers heard it loud and clear.”
The 12,335-square-foot gated home sits on more than 6.7 acres. It has six bedrooms, seven full bathrooms and four partial baths.
Completed in 2015 by Sharif & Munir Custom Homes, the estate is inspired by the Texas Hill Country and includes a spring-fed creek and a private, one-acre lake stocked with bass and catfish.
The home also features a lighted tennis court, a resort-style heated pool with underwater windows, a boathouse fishing dock and a 20-seat home theater with an immersive 3D audio system.
Real estate blog Candy’s Dirt writes the property was once part of the original Haggard Family farm. Early Plano settler C.S. Haggard settled the area in 1884.
Kick started BuzzBallz in 2010 when she was a teacher at Plano West Senior High School. The firm was acquired by New Orleans-based alcohol powerhouse Sazerac last year.
