Pope Francis vs Belchertown girls Tennis Class B Semi Finals 5/20/25

On Tuesday night, the Orioles locked up a spot in the Class B Western Mass. finals by sweeping the Cardinals.

Not only did Belchertown take all five matchups against Pope Francis, they only gave up six total sets in the semifinal performance.

At first singles, Amanda Murray secured the pure sweep, going 6-0, 6-0. At second singles, Mia Carish only dropped one set in her victory.

The same went for Gianna Picardi and the third singles matchup, which she won for Belchertown, 6-0, 6-1.

The pairing of Edith Audette and Katie Collins took home first doubles 6-0. 6-1 for Belchertown, while Ellie Rendall and Emma Kornbluth won second doubles 6-2, 6-1.

The win puts the Orioles at 17-2 on the season and they will face the No. 3 Red Hawks in the finals.

No. 2 Frontier Regional (3), No. 3 St. Mary (2)

In a back and forth matchup between Frontier and St. Mary, the Red Hawks doubles play came in clutch to secure their ticket to the Class B Western Mass. finals.

After singles matches, the Saints had a 2-1 advantage, with the only Frontier win coming by Kayla Fagan in second team singles, as she defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-3.

Despite dropping two singles matches early in the competition, the Red Hawks competitive edge powered to a sweep in doubles play.

Esther Ehle and Aylen Shaw won the first doubles match 6-1, 6-2 to tie the score at two apiece. With a chance at playing in the finals on the line, the second team duo of Brooke Charest and Hailey Fernandez stepped up to snag the 6-1, 6-3 victory.

With the 3-2 semifinal win, Frontier advances to face No. 1 Belchertown in the final round on a date and time yet to be announced.

Class C

No. 2 Lenox (4), No. 3 Palmer (1)
