Ever wonder what baby names are all the rage in Massachusetts?
The Social Security Administration released a list of the most popular baby names in the state for both boys and girls.
For boys, some names remain consistent. Since 2020, Noah and Liam have continued to hold the top two spots for boy names.
Girl names, however, have shown to be different. From 2020 to 2022, Olivia reigned supreme as the number one choice. But in 2023, Charlotte took over. In 2024, Olivia has reclaimed its place at number one with 339 girls born in Massachusetts receiving the name.
Emma has shown consistency, maintaining its third place standing since at least 2020. Boy names on the other hand have seen frequent shifts throughout the years, according to the agency. For instance, Benjamin held third in 2020, only to be replaced by Henry in 2021, James in 2022, Theodore in 2023. Oliver then stepped into third in 2024.
While the popular girl names list showed to be fairly stable with no new entries since 2020, a couple of boys’ names have appeared in the top 100. Matteo, ranked at 82 and Kayden coming in at 96, made their first appearance on the Massachusetts top 100 list in 2024 within this four year period.
