Class A Quarterfinal: No. 5 West Springfield (2) at No. 4 Longmeadow (0)
In a close matchup, West Springfield came out on top 2-0 over Longmeadow on Wednesday in the Western Mass Class A Quarterfinals.
The Terriers tacked on two runs in the third and fourth innings to cement a win over the Lancers. Gavin Hall started on the mound for West Springfield, not allowing a hit to Longmeadow. Hall struck out six and walked five.
Hall and Patrick Herlihy were the ones to grab RBIs for the Terriers in the win. West Springfield will now take on No. 1 Pope Francis for a chance at a Western Mass title.
Class A Quarterfinal: No. 7 Agawam (5) at No. 2 Springfield Central (0)
Agawam upset Springfield Central, 5-0, on Wednesday in the Western Mass Class A Quarterfinal.
Aidan Lavelle led the Agawam offense with two RBIs on an extra base hit, going 1-for-3. Cole Ingham, Owen Lavelle and Gavin Shlosser also had an RBI. Shlosser went 2-for-3 on a single and double.
Agawam will take on the winner of No. 3 Westfield and No. 6 Minnechaug on a date and time TBD.
Class B Quarterfinal: No. 8 Hampshire (1) at No. 1 Pittsfield (2)
Camden Zerbato came up clutch for the No. 1 Pittsfield baseball team on Wednesday, driving in the winning run with a walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Generals over the No. 8 Hampshire Raiders by the final of 2-1 in the Class B quarterfinal round.
Pittsfield had trailed all afternoon and didn’t get on the scoreboard until tying the game at one run apiece in the bottom of the sixth. While their offense struggled, Matthew Burega kept the Generals within striking distance, allowing four hits and one run while striking out six across six innings of work.
As triumphant as the victory was for Pittsfield, it came at the expense of what was nothing short of a brilliant performance from Hampshire hurler Jacob Sicard, who set down 10 batters by way of the “K” as part of a 96-pitch, six-inning outing.
After advancing, Pittsfield will now challenge No. 5 Monument Mountain Regional.
Class B Quarterfinal: No. 5 Monument Mountain (19) at No. 4 East Longmeadow (1)

Class B Quarterfinal: No. 6 Frontier (1) at No. 3 Belchertown (6)
No. 3 Belchertown defeated No. 6 Frontier on Wednesday, 6-1, to advance to the Class B Semifinal.
The Orioles recorded ten hits from eight different players, including multi-hits efforts from Ian McDonald and Evan Ferguson. Josh Misiaszek was in damage-control mode, as he gave up six hits yet only one run.
Belchertown will now play against the winner of No.2 Taconic and No.7 Smith Vocational.
Class B Quarterfinal: No. 7 Smith Voc. (0) at No. 2 Taconic (12)
In a dominant victory over Smith Vocational High School, Taconic High School’s 12-0 win advances them to the semi final round of the Class B Western Massachusetts tournament. They will now go onto play Belchertown in the next round.
It was a tough day for the Smith Vocational offense, as they only managed to collect one hit off of a single from Jared Baer and two total walks. Pat Millin did the bulk of the pitching, throwing 3.2 innings of 12 run ball with nine of them earned.
For Taconic, their 10 hits helped propel them over Taconic alongside six walks as well. They had three extra base hits as well, with Edward Ferris, Quentin Christopher and Ethan O’Donnell all getting doubles. Kyle McGrath and Edward Ferris also each had two RBI’s.
Taconic’s next game in the semi final round is still TBD.
Class C Quarterfinal: No. 8 McCann Tech (1) at No. 1 Drury (2)

Class C Quarterfinal: No. 5 Athol (10) at No. 4 Lenox (4)
The quarterfinal round of the Western Massachusetts Class C tournament between Athol Bears and the Lenox Millionaires featured a convincing 10-4 victory for the No. 5 seed Athol, winning 10-4 on the road against No. 4 Lenox.
The Bears offense started hot out the gate, getting three runs on the board in the top of the 1st and three runs in the top of the 4th. They scattered 15 hits across the course of the game, as Logan Cormier and Hayden Barrieau each provided three. Cormier drove in three runs as well with Barrieau driving in two. Athol did this on only two extra base hits, both from Cormier. They supplemented this with five walks. Alex Lavigne, Cormier and Anthony Lopez-Hippler all provided quality innings on the mound, with Lavigne and Lopez-Hippler pitching six of the seven innings and allowed all four runs.
Lenox only produced three total hits on four runs, drawing five walks as well and a hit-by-pitch. They lone extra base hit and all three RBI’s came from Jack Hicks, with a double and a walk.
Class C Quarterfinal: No. 6 Franklin Tech (1) at No. 3 Greenfield (11)

Class C Quarterfinal: No. 7 Easthampton (1) at No. 2 Westfield Tech (9)
The No. 2 Westfield Tech baseball team laid waste to No. 7 Easthampton with a 9-1 victory in the quarterfinal round of the Class C tournament on Wednesday.
The Tigers did the majority of their damage in the bottom of the sixth inning by tacking six runs on the board. Camden Witzack drove in three RBIs and crossed the plate twice himself as part of a 1-3 performance. Antonio Simpson had a complete-game effort on the mound for Westfield Tech, allowing just one run on five hits and one walk while striking out five.
Westfield will now face either No. 3 Greenfield or No. 6 Franklin County Tech in the semifinal round.
