Jordan Austin Reid, 31, has been charged and booked into jail.

STATESVILLE, N.C. — A Statesville man is facing charges after he reportedly stabbed someone else late Wednesday morning.

In a news release Thursday, the Statesville Police Department said it responded to a business along Davie Avenue near the Hallmark Inn around 11:40 a.m. Wednesday. Officers found the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. First responders offered aid and got the victim to a nearby hospital. However, the department said the victim had to be airlifted to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital for further treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Jordan Austin Reid of Statesville, was found in the Hallmark Inn parking lot. Police said they found the weapon that was believed to have been used. He was arrested and taken to jail. Reid was granted a $25,000 bond.

Officers said witness statements and surveillance footage provided them a clearer picture, saying Reid and the victim had some kind of altercation inside the business. During the confrontation, Reid started stabbing the victim. The victim ran out of the store, but Reid reportedly continued his assault in the parking lot. After that, the victim collapsed in the roadway, and Reid returned to the Inn.

Because of where the scene unfolded, traffic was detoured around the area as the investigation got underway. Police said a search warrant executed on Reid’s room at the inn led them to find more evidence connected to the assault.

The victim is still in critical but stable condition as of publication. The investigation is still ongoing.

Anyone who can offer further information about this can call Statesville Police at 704-878-3406 or 704-832-3583.

Note: WCNC instituted a policy in March 2021 regarding the broadcast or posting of mugshots.

WCNC will only air or post a mugshot if the person has been formally charged with a crime and in a few other cases. The exceptions include: If it appears the person could be a danger to themselves or others or if they are wanted by authorities; to differentiate between people with a common name; if the photos could encourage more victims to come forward. The news-editorial leadership may also decide to use a mugshot based on the severity of the crime(s) committed and/or the level of public interest in the crime and ensuing criminal proceedings.
