After connecting the man to an online tip, investigators got a search warrant for his home.
CHERAW, S.C. — A 39-year-old Cheraw man has been arrested on charges related to child sexual abuse material.
Jeffrey Daniel Short was arrested Thursday by the Chesterfield County Sheriff’s Office working with a state task force.
Short faces five charges:
The case began with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children through their CyberTipline.
After connecting Short to the tip, investigators got a search warrant for his home. They confiscated multiple electronics and found exploitative material involving minors during forensic analysis.
Short was arrested without problems and is being held at the Chesterfield County Detention Center. More charges may be added as the investigation continues, officials said.
“Our agency remains committed to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community—our children,” Sheriff Cambo Streater said. “The exploitation of minors is a serious offense, and we will continue working with our local, state, and federal partners to identify and prosecute those involved.”
The investigation is still underway.

Note: WCNC instituted a policy in March 2021 regarding the broadcast or posting of mugshots.
WCNC will only air or post a mugshot if the person has been formally charged with a crime and in a few other cases. The exceptions include: If it appears the person could be a danger to themselves or others or if they are wanted by authorities; to differentiate between people with a common name; if the photos could encourage more victims to come forward. The news-editorial leadership may also decide to use a mugshot based on the severity of the crime(s) committed and/or the level of public interest in the crime and ensuing criminal proceedings.
