Cold, wet and windy days in Massachusetts could finally transition into warmer, more familiar conditions for this point in the season, as Memorial Day approaches.
Scattered showers could continue Friday night, mostly north of the south coast, according to the National Weather Service. These showers are likely to lift by the end of Friday at around 12 a.m.
Any rain spotted in Worcester, Springfield and Boston for the rest of Friday is expected to be somewhere around less than 1 tenth of an inch, forecasters said.
Saturday should see similar conditions, including scattered showers, but with temperatures expected to be in the high 50s and low 60s, forecasters continued.
The timeframes for potential showers vary among the Bay State’s major cities. Boston could see showers between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., Springfield could have rain from 12 to 4 p.m. and Worcester is expected to have rainfall from 2 to 3 p.m., forecasters said.
Sunday is likely to be a rain-free day, forecasters said. Skies should continue to see clouds, though some sunshine should peek through during the day.
After a day in the low to mid-60s, forecasters anticipate temperatures warming up further just in time for Memorial Day. Daytime highs are expected to be in the high 60s and low 70s, with Boston reaching 69 degrees, Worcester hitting 70 and Springfield reaching 71.
“With a bit more sun on Monday, better chance that highs near the coast reach into the low 70s but still only in the mid 60s along the coasts,” forecasters wrote.
Warming temperatures are expected to continue as the week continues, but forecasters warn that another system could roll into the region by Thursday. Rain showers are likely, but forecasters wrote that it’s still “not set in stone.”
