SEATTLE — A 16-year-old boy was injured in a shooting at Seward Park on Friday night, prompting an investigation by Seattle police detectives.

The incident unfolded shortly after 10:00 p.m. when patrol officers responded to reports of a person threatening another with a gun in the 5800 block of Lake Washington Boulevard South.

While investigating, officers heard gunfire and discovered the victim in the park’s upper loop near the amphitheater, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Officers gave medical aid to the teen and carried him 100 yards to the Seattle Fire Department, who continued treatment. The boy was then transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious but stable condition.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting are still under investigation, and no suspects have been identified.

Detectives from the Gun Violence Reduction Unit have been called in to process the scene.
