COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A woman faces charges after law enforcement apprehended a man wanted in connection with the shooting of two Mifflin Township police officers.

Jayla Call, 31, is charged with felony obstruction and tampering with evidence. Her address on court documents is the same as the apartment where sheriff’s deputies found Daveonte Dixon, who was wanted for the shooting of two Mifflin officers on May 28 while they were attempting a traffic stop.

Video released by the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office shows a man officials say is Dixon getting out of the passenger side of the car and running. At one point, he stumbles and then fires at the officers, striking them.

A detective wrote in charging documents that Call was inside the apartment when deputies arrived to serve a search warrant.

She exited and later admitted to deleting text messages on her phone between Dixon and Dixon’s girlfriend while approaching deputies. She also reportedly told detectives she knew Dixon was a fugitive and that he was at her home for several hours.

Dixon, the sheriff’s office said, fired ‘several rounds’ from the residence toward deputies. SWAT later made entry and discovered him inside with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was then taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition.

Call is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Franklin County Municipal Court.
