TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (TNND) — The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Thursday announced its week-long immigration sting in partnership with the state of Florida is a “preview of what is to come” for immigration enforcement in the U.S.
ICE described the sting, dubbed “Operation Tidal Wave” as a first of its kind partnership between federal and local law enforcement. It reported the arrests of 800 illegal immigrants during the first four days of the operation.
Taking to X Thursday, DHS vowed similar operations would continue to take place across the U.S. to root out those living in the country illegally.
“Operation Tidal Wave is a preview of what is to come around the country: large scale operations that partner with state and local law enforcement,” it wrote. “@POTUS Trump and @Sec_Noem are empowering @ICEgov and law enforcement to remove criminal illegal aliens from our communities.”
The move comes as federal authorities are continuing to take immigration enforcement efforts to the local level. President Donald Trump on Monday signed an executive order directing Attorney General Pam Bondi and Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem to publish a list of cities across the U.S. which openly refuse to cooperate with immigration enforcement, known as sanctuary cities.
“This is a lawless insurrection against the supremacy of Federal law and the Federal Government’s obligation to defend the territorial sovereignty of the United States,” the order reads in part.
