There’s still time to sign up your student for enrichment activities this summer.
Local education nonprofit The Mind Trust will provide its annual Indy Summer Learning Labs again this year with a focus of helping students bridge the summer break learning gaps.
Fifty-six partner sites are preparing to serve about 5,500 children in and near Marion County as part of the five-week program, which runs from June 16 to July 18.
The summer program will incorporate academic studies in the morning followed by fun afternoon activities to keep kids engaged and coming back each week.
Each learning lab location follows the same curriculum in the morning but gets flexibility to choose their own afternoon activities. The program places licensed teachers at each participating site. About 360 educators will participate in the program this year.
All Indy Summer Learning Labs follow similar schedules, but the costs, transportation, ages served and after-program care vary by location.
Some sites are free while others can charge from $10 to $300 for the summer. Though, some scholarships may be available. All children receive breakfast, lunch and a snack while in attendance.
Programs range in age with first through ninth grade options available. Participation is open to students from any school.
A map of learning lab locations is available online. And, parents can submit questions to [email protected].
Enrollment remains open through June 11, but program leaders say spots are filling up quickly.
Visit the Indy Summer Learning Labs website to learn more about individual programs and enroll.
