LANCASTER, S.C. — A woman was found dead in her car late Friday night, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office.
Just before midnight, deputies found 40-year-old Larisha Thompson of Lancaster behind the wheel of her 2021 Honda Accord along Riverside Road. She appeared to have died from a gunshot wound, deputies said.
She had left her nearby house earlier in the evening, traveling alone toward Rock Hill, investigators said. When family members lost contact with her, they began searching the area and ultimately discovered her vehicle with her body inside.
“This investigation is just beginning, and we have multiple personnel interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence, and running down leads to determine what happened on Riverside Road last night,” said Sheriff Barry Faile. “If anyone saw or heard anything or knows anything that might be related to this shooting, please contact us immediately. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.”
This is a developing investigation. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
