SAN ANTONIO – UPDATE (5:30 p.m.):

Bexar County continues to see a low voter turnout in the May 3 election, according to the elections department.

The elections department gave the following update at 5 p.m.:

27,135 Election Day in-person voters in the City of San Antonio

31,705 Election Day in-person voters in Bexar County

65,550 early voting turnout in San Antonio.

74,092 total early votes in Bexar County.

UPDATE (2:45 p.m.):

Bexar County Election Administrator Michele Carew provided an update on the election at 2 p.m. Watch the update below.

Carew said the following vote counts were recorded as of 1 p.m. Saturday:

Bexar County turnout – 95,354 voters

In-person county-wide turnout – 21,261 voters

Early voting turnout in San Antonio – 65,550 voters

San Antonio voter turnout as of 1 p.m. Saturday – 15,739 voters

Total San Antonio turnout – 81,289 voters

Carew said this election appears to be similar to 2019, when early voting had a 9.1% turnout and a 4.6% turnout on Election Day.

She said the elections department is hoping for overall voter turnout between 13% and 15%.

San Antonio residents are choosing a new mayor and voting in all 10 city council seats in the May 3 election. Twenty-seven candidates are running for mayor.

If no candidate receives more than 50% of the vote on May 3, the top two vote-getters will advance to a runoff on June 7.

Results will start rolling in at 7 p.m. Saturday, Carew said, and will include early voting and ballot by mail. Results will be reported in 25% increments.

Carew said they are hoping to have all numbers turned in by 11:30 p.m. While community events like Fiesta can overshadow the election, she said residents still have time to vote at one of the 246 voting centers.

Voting centers are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. For a full list of places residents can cast their ballots, click here.
