AUSTIN, Texas — If you’re looking to banish summer boredom, the Fantastic Magic Camp might just be the spell you need.
General Director Peter Hinrichs and camper parent Brandi Wyman visited We Are Austin to share more about what makes this camp a magical experience for kids.
At camp, kids will learn magic tricks, how to juggle and the art of puppetry plus comedy improv and enjoy a few fun theme-based days like wizarding and carnival day. Hinrichs explained, “We celebrate the weird and the kids just love that.”
Fantastic Magic Camp offers camps for ages 5-12 plus a two-week performers academy for ages 10-16.
“All they need to have is the desire to learn and the desire to have fun,” Hinrichs said.
Wyman, who chose the camp for her son, said, “I like that it was out of the box a bit and different than a lot of the other offerings out there.” Wyman registered her son for the camp after it was recommended by a family friend.
“Magic transcends language and it’s a really cool way to connect. At the time, my kiddo was a little shy. He’s come out of his shell a lot and a lot of that has to do with magic camp,” she added. Wyman said the camp also helps kids learn how to make a mistake and power through as well as the value of practice.
Camps run weekly June 2 through August 15 with the performers academy running June 23- July 4.
For those interested in enrolling, the camp is still accepting registrations. For more information, visit magiccamp.com.
And of course, no magic camp would be complete without a little demonstration. Hinrichs delighted with a quick magic trick, leaving everyone eager to see more.
