The drivers of the motorcycles, ranging from 25 to 57 years old, were all pronounced dead at the scene.
KERR COUNTY, Texas — Three motorcyclists are dead and a passenger critically injured in Kerr County, after DPS officials say a suspected drunk driver hit them head-on.
Officials says 25-year-old Jeremy Wasson was driving drunk when he crossed into the westbound lanes and hit the motorcyclists.
“It looked more like a war zone than an accident,” said Brenda Shumpert, a witness.
The accident happened around 5 p.m. Saturday on State Highway 27 at Bluff Creek Road North.
Shumpert says the motorcycles involved in the accident were indescribable.
The drivers of the motorcycles, 25-year-old Cortney Cortez, 34-year-old Cody Cortez and 57-year-old Daniel Cortez Jr. were all pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger on one of the motorcycles was airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio.
“It was like organized chaos, people knew what they were doing but it was such a horrendous scene,” said Shumpert.
According to online court records, Wasson is being charged with three counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of Intoxication assault.
Wasson was given bonds totaling $350,000 and online records show he posted bond and was released from custody on Sunday.
