A boy who is a Dover-Sherborn Regional School District student shared photos of girls clothed at school along with “nude pictures from an unknown source,” Dover Police Chief Joseph Vinci said on Monday.
The school district notified Dover police in September 2024 about “a concerning incident involving the sharing of photographs of minors,” Vinci said in a separate statement on the matter.
“Upon receiving the report, the Dover Police Department immediately and thoroughly investigated this matter, including interviewing students and their families and executing a search warrant for a forensic examination,” Vinci said. “All families of identified students were notified.”
Some of the students carried and disseminated photos of girls in middle school wearing clothes, the Vinci said. But one student shared those photos along with nude photos of people whose identities have not been determined.
After police consulted with the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office, the district attorney’s office pursued charges through the juvenile court system, Vinci’s office said. It is unclear how many students face charges or what those charges are.
“I want to assure our community that we investigated this matter very seriously,” Vinci said. “Our department placed a high premium on supporting the identified victims and prioritizing their well-being throughout. The Dover Police Department remains committed to the safety and dignity of all — especially our youth — and will continue to work closely with the schools and families to prevent and address any behavior that threatens that commitment.”
