Boone police arrested Alejandro Facundo in connection with a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a bicyclist.
BOONE, N.C. — A 21-year-old Greensboro man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that left a bicyclist seriously hurt on Thursday evening.
Alejandro Facundo was taken into custody after Boone police officers investigated the collision that occurred near the intersection of US Highway 421 and Bamboo Road.
Police found an injured bicyclist and determined the car involved in the crash had fled the scene, prompting an investigation to locate the driver.
Officers identified the suspect vehicle as an older model red GMC Sierra truck. A Watauga County Sheriff’s Deputy later stopped the vehicle and identified Facundo as the driver.
Facundo faces multiple charges related to the crash:
He was issued a court date of June 30, 2025, and is being held at the Watauga County Detention Center under a $40,000 secured bond.
