Avelo Airlines added a major routes to its Concord offerings.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Avelo Airlines’ newest expansion of its service at Concord-Padgett Regional Airport took off Thursday just ahead of Memorial Day weekend.
Avelo’s new route features service to Long Island, New York, and will travel twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays. Avelo said it is the only airline offering nonstop service to this airport from Concord. The budget airline says one-way fares start at $49.
“We continue to Inspire Travel by growing our service in Concord/Charlotte with this new route to New York,” Avelo Airlines Founder and CEO Andrew Levy said. “With four nonstop options from USA, we continue to share Avelo’s low fares, travel-friendly convenience and industry-leading reliability with our Queen City Customers — while making it easier than ever for visitors to experience all that Charlotte has to offer.”

This launch of a new nonstop flight comes just a month after the airline discontinued six routes from the regional airport, affecting service to multiple popular destinations. The canceled routes include Nashville, Tennessee, and Daytona Beach, Florida. It also impacted Washington Dulles and Detroit, Michigan, which never even got off the ground. Washington Dulles and Detroit were scheduled to launch the same week the Long Island route did. According to an Avelo spokesperson, the decision stems from “poor performance and low bookings” on these routes. The airline has been adjusting its network strategy amid the competitive summer travel landscape.
Avelo Airlines opened his base on March 6, 2025 and offers multiple nonstop destinations like Boston/Manchester, New Hampshire, New Haven, Connecticut, and Rochester, New York. But just a few weeks prior to that, the carrier said it was going to cancel a second route since the airline began Concord service less than a year prior.
Concord–Padgett Regional Airport offers passengers an alternative to the larger Charlotte Douglas International Airport. The airport in Concord offers commercial passenger service through Allegiant and Avelo airlines. The airport is in the suburbs of Charlotte.
