A Boston restaurant that served up several home-style chicken meals has closed to make way for housing.

YellowBird Chicken in the West Roxbury section of Boston permanently shut down because of a condo development, the restaurant wrote in a Facebook post on April 27.

“As one of the vendors who designed the signs, menus and other Yellowbird things, I witnessed a food culture phenomenon built from the mind of Brian,” a Facebook comment reads. “Over the years, I witnessed the tornado of amazing food borne and happily delivered to the wonderful and lucky clients who enjoyed it. Good luck going forward, Chef Brian Martell!”

Martell opened YellowBird Chicken in the summer of 2016, according to the restaurant’s Yelp page.

“After traveling and cooking in the best restaurants and hotels, I knew the time was right for YellowBird,” Martell wrote. “The people were starving for this food.”

The restaurant offered chicken in several formats, including rotisserie, tender meals and wing combos in addition to salads, sandwiches, burgers, fishcakes and desserts.

YellowBird Chicken was located at 239 Grove St., West Roxbury.
