BOSTON — Recent call-up Abraham Toro will play first base for the Red Sox against the Rangers on Tuesday.
Toro, who was promoted Saturday after Triston Casas suffered a ruptured patellar tendon Friday, will bat seventh in the order.
The Red Sox and Rangers will play the first of a three-game series at 6:45 p.m. here at Fenway Park.
The tarp is on the field. There is no word yet whether this game might be delayed or postponed.
Rookie Kristian Campbell will bat cleanup for the second straight game. Manager Alex Cora said Sunday Campbell probably will be the regular cleanup hitter moving forward.
Boston will face former Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi who is 2-2 with a 2.11 ERA in seven starts for Texas this year.
Righty Lucas Giolito will make his second start of the season. The 30-year-old righty allowed three runs, five hits and two walks while striking out seven in 6 innings last Wednesday in Toronto.
