Child hit by stray bullet during domestic violence shooting that killed Federal Way teen
FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — An early morning shooting at an apartment complex in Federal Way has left an 18-year-old dead and an 11-year-old child injured.
The incident occurred on Saturday, around 1:22 a.m. in the 32100 block of 18th Avenue SW.

Federal Way police officers arrived at the scene to find the 18-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds.
Officers administered first aid until medics arrived, but despite their efforts, the victim died from his injuries
During the investigation, officers discovered that a stray bullet had struck an 11-year-old child sleeping in a neighboring apartment. The child was taken to Harborview Medical Center and is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities believe the shooting stemmed from a domestic violence situation involving the victim and his ex-girlfriend. An altercation between the two reportedly led to the shooting.
The suspect, who fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived, is known to the victim, and there is no known threat to the public.
