Volunteers, donors and clients joined together under white tents Friday morning for what felt like a family reunion at Clara White Mission.

The nonprofit hosted its 31st annual “Miracle on Ashley Street” fundraiser, its largest event of the year.

For 30 years, the event has offered a beacon of light, raising hundreds of thousands of dollars to uplift those experiencing homelessness.

Supporters came out in force to celebrate the community jewel that is the Clara White Mission.

“Isn’t it beautiful?” CEO Ju’Coby Pittman said. “It’s just carrying on the legacy that Dr. Eartha M.M. White started.”

White founded the mission more than 100 years ago to support those in need in the community.

Today, Clara White Mission provides food and housing to those experiencing homelessness, but also offers vocational programs “to restore those in need to meaningful, dignified lives in the community.”

About 1,500 people were served meals Friday morning by volunteers from local companies and organizations.

“Having the community come out for the homeless and for the homeless veterans who are here, who have lain in front of our doors,” Pittman said. “We want to make sure that this signature fundraiser raises the dollars that we need.”

Those interested in volunteering or donating to the Clara White Mission can find more information at clarawhitemission.org/.
