Columbus, Ohio (WSYX) — Coca-Cola Consolidated has announced a significant investment of $90 million into a new 60-acre campus in Columbus. This development is expected to provide jobs and boost the local economy.
The investment includes a 400,000-square-foot distribution and warehouse facility, along with two 15,000-square-foot buildings dedicated to equipment repair services and fleet maintenance.
The facility is designed to enhance service to customers and the Columbus community through innovative sustainability processes, new technology, and a designated learning center. The Columbus-based warehouse is set to handle more than 16 million cases of product annually, averaging about 75,000 cases daily.
Coca-Cola Consolidated’s state-of-the-art Vertique system, a semi-automated solution, is expected to improve warehouse productivity, efficiency, accuracy, and working conditions. Additionally, the campus will feature a new equipment services facility and a fleet shop for Coca-Cola Consolidated’s transportation subsidiary, Red Classic Transit.
The new campus will be unveiled with a Grand Opening Ceremony on Wednesday, with remarks from Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Coca-Cola officials.
