Houston – Doctors in Recital, hosted by Steinway Piano Gallery of Houston, returns for its third year with another group of talented Houston physicians.
These doctors from varying specialties and practices will trade in their scrubs for the piano bench, performing classical pieces.
This year, all donations from the event will go to the Pediatric Burn Program at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston — the only one of its kind in the city. It provides emergency care, long-term recovery, and rehabilitation for children with burn injuries, combining surgical expertise with psychological and emotional support.
The event is led by Amanda Watson from Steinway and Dr. Michael Yafi, a pediatric endocrinologist and pianist. Also featured is Dr. Allison Speer, a pediatric surgeon who works directly with the children this event supports.
Guests can expect music from composers like Beethoven, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff, played by doctors from many specialties — including heart, anesthesia, plastic surgery, and more. One of the pianos being used is a fun one: the Disney 100th Anniversary Steinway. It is one of 25 made in the world, and it will be on full display at the recital.
Admission is free, but, 100% of donations will go directly to the burn program to help with wound care, dressing, pain, and skin care.
