Meet Brian Farda, our Documenter of the Week.

After a 20-year career in the classroom, teaching subjects such as history, political science, civics and economics, Brian now works on the business side of educational operations in the Fort Worth area.

Documenters

Documenters empowers people like you to help fill the gaps in reporting on Tarrant County public meetings. Find out how you can join here.

He grew up in Irving and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington. He, his wife Marisol and daughter Misha now live in south Fort Worth along the Chisholm Trail Parkway.

Brian was drawn to the Fort Worth Documenters program as a way to become more actively engaged locally.

“I always encouraged my students to get off the sidelines and get into the game, so now I am taking my own advice,” he said. “Fort Worth is booming. So there is no better time to get into the mix.”

Brian is passionate about the same subjects he taught for years, and “I often see the world and its events through each of those lenses.”

His questions about Fort Worth: “I’m guided by a few essential questions: In a city approaching 1 million people, what are the most important tasks to be done right now? Who and what type of leaders should we be listening to and following? And to what extent are we simply following a pattern of development all cities follow that is beyond our control? Probably the one I ask myself the most.”

Brian recently covered a meeting of the Fort Worth Transportation & Public Works, providing an update on upcoming work to downtown traffic signals and curbs. It’s his first work for Documenters.
