Colorado continues to add competition to its offensive line room.

On Monday, former Maryland left tackle Andre Roye Jr., announced his commitment to the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders.

Roye, listed at 6-foot-6, 294 pounds by Maryland, started seven games at left tackle for the Terrapins last season. He played in eight games overall and missed some time with two different injuries.

Roye comes to CU with two years of eligibility remaining. He is the seventh offensive line transfer of the offseason for the Buffs, including the third since the end of spring practices last month.

Although one of the lowest-graded offensive linemen in the country per Pro Football Focus, Roye allowed just one sack and was penalized only four times in 434 snaps. The sack he allowed was against Penn State star Abdul Carter, the No. 3 pick in the NFL Draft last month, in the last week of the season. Roye had missed the previous three games and played briefly in that game.

During his three seasons at Maryland, Roye played in 17 games. He played three games in 2022 and six in 2023 as a reserve.

A former three-star recruit coming out of St. Frances (Md.) Academy in 2022, Roye had originally committed to Penn State before flipping to Maryland. He also had offers from USC, Arizona State, Baylor, Michigan and Tennessee, among others.

Game time

CU announced Tuesday that its season-opener on Aug. 29 against Georgia Tech at Folsom Field will kick off at 6 p.m. and be televised by ESPN.

It will be a CU-record 14th consecutive game that will be on either network TV or the ESPN flagship. Last year, all 13 games were on network TV or ESPN, shattering a previous school record of nine such games in a season.

CU and Georgia Tech split the national title in 1990 but have never met on the field.
