CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An arrest order has been issued for a former Mecklenburg County judge who was arrested for possession of cocaine in April.
Casey Viser, 53, failed to appear for a court date related to the drug charge on Friday, leading to the forfeiture of his bond and a warrant for his arrest.
Viser was arrested in Mecklenburg County on Monday, April 14. An affidavit states Viser was stopped by an officer at a gas station on Independence Boulevard for having fake registration plates. The officer reportedly found 0.2 grams of cocaine in the car.
Officials charged Viser with possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Viser was arrested and given a $2,500 bond, which he posted on Tuesday. His next court date was scheduled for May 2, but he failed to appear to that. Now, authorities are looking for him.
Viser was elected to an eight-year term as a Mecklenburg County judge in 2020. He resigned in June 2022 for unknown reasons.
