Columbus, Ohio (WSYX) — Four teenagers, including two teenage girls and two teenage boys, have been arrested in connection with the April 28 shooting death of 34-year-old Jamal Jones in east Columbus, police said.
The female teens, ages 17 and 15, were taken into custody on May 6 and transported to the Franklin County Juvenile Detention Center. Warrants for their arrests had been issued the day before.
Detectives originally interviewed the two girls, along with two male suspects, on May 2 regarding the murder of Jones and the robbery of another victim, Jose Castillo.
Charges were filed against the two males, ages 12 and 15, on while the girls were released at the time. Further investigation led to the issuance of the warrants.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting just after 4 a.m. on April 28 in the 1300 block of Fountain Lane. They arrived to find Jones suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers provided aid until medics from Columbus Fire arrived and transported him to a local hospital. He was pronounced dead at 4:38 a.m.
