One neighbor told WCNC Charlotte that she heard at least six gunshots.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — There was a heavy police presence in north Charlotte on Friday afternoon after two people were apparently shot and wounded.

The incident happened around 5 p.m. along Stroud Park Court, just off Oaklawn Avenue near the Ivory/Baker Recreation Center.

Neighbors who spoke with WCNC Charlotte said they heard “dozens of gunshots” and that one house on the block has a lot of blood in front of it which they said is where the incident happened. Another witness told WCNC Charlotte Reporter Siobhan Riley that she saw two people who appeared to be young boys down on the ground with blood coming out their head and neck.

Later in the evening, Medic confirmed two people were rushed from the scene to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

WCNC Charlotte has a crew on the scene who saw one person in handcuffs and over a dozen police cars on the scene.

Investigators haven’t released any details about the incident.

WCNC Charlotte has reached out to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police for more information.

One neighbor told WCNC Charlotte Reporter Jesse Pierre this area has gotten more violent recently despite a private security team that patrols the area.

This story will be updated once we learn more.
