Golf fans in Charlotte are urged to stay vigilant against ticket scammers as resale prices soar for Quail Hollow events.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Thousands of people are in Charlotte this week to watch the best players in golf in the PGA Championship at Quail Hollow Golf Club.
While there are still options to get tickets, many of them are resale only. And some scammers are taking advantage of this.
Friday and Saturday resale tickets on the PGA website range from $324 to over $7,000. Scammers are looking to capitalize on the demand with fake tickets online.

“If it’s too good to be true, it probably is,” Diaz said.
A common red flag is a super low price. Diaz says this is all about grabbing someone’s attention. From there, they hope someone will see a good deal and not think twice.
“They want people to think there is a deal, I have to act fast, and if a person is pressured to act fast, it is less likely someone will be doing their homework,” Diaz said.
Diaz said if it’s not a reputable resale ticket vendor, there is less of a chance you will get your money back if it’s a fake ticket.
“It’s always good to take the extra five to 10 minutes to check that the seller is legitimate,” Diaz said.
The BBB states you can check to see if a ticket resale business is legitimate on their website.
Customers should always know the refund policy when buying tickets and pay with methods that come with protection, like a credit card.
