Inglewood Mayor James Butts caught up with Eyewitness News at the scene. He said two women suffered gunshot wounds and were taken to a hospital.
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (KABC) — Two women were injured in a shooting at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Inglewood Friday afternoon, officials said.
Inglewood Mayor James Butts said the suspect was taken into custody in the Koreatown area. Los Angeles police said a person detained matches the suspect’s description, but is waiting for Inglewood police to confirm if the person is the suspected shooter.
Butts said the shooting happened around 3:45 p.m. inside an office on the campus, located at 8911 Aviation Boulevard.
Two women were injured in a shooting at Spartan College in Inglewood, officials say.
The mayor said the gunman was potentially a former employee who was wearing a security guard uniform. Butts described the shooting as an incident of workplace violence.
Both victims were hospitalized in critical condition, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
A lockdown was placed in the area, but it was later lifted after police searched the campus. Police later determined the suspect had fled the area.
It’s unclear what motivated the shooting.
Three people have been injured and a suspect is barricaded at Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology in Inglewood.
