Kent police arrest man for domestic violence assault involving gun and children

KENT, Wash. — A 35-year-old man was arrested by Kent police officers after a domestic violence incident involving a gun and children on Wednesday.

The arrest followed multiple 911 calls reporting the assault, which occurred at around 8:24 p.m. at a home on 118 Ave SE.

According to police, a man assaulted his 34-year-old wife during an argument, pointed a gun at her, and prevented her from calling 911.

The couple’s children were inside the home during the assault, and the man initially prevented their mother from removing them from the scene.

A male family member who arrived to help the victim was also attacked by the man. The suspect scratched his face and attempted to strangle him, causing multiple injuries to his face and neck.

The attacker later walked the children out of the home to their mother.

Officers surrounded the home to prevent the suspect from fleeing and to protect nearby residents.

Using a PA system, they instructed the suspect to exit the home, which he eventually did. He was taken into custody without further incident.

The suspect was taken d to King County Jail and booked on charges including domestic violence, domestic violence assault with a firearm, 2nd-degree assault for strangling and eye gouging the family member, and interfering with rpeorting of domestic violence.
