SEATTLE — Seattle Storm fans won’t have to wait any longer to get their first glimpse of the team’s revamped 2025 lineup.
KOMO 4 News will broadcast the Storm’s preseason opener live from Climate Pledge Arena this Sunday, May 4, at 3:00 p.m. PST, as the team hosts the Connecticut Sun.
The game marks the beginning of what’s shaping up to be one of the most exciting seasons in Storm history.
With a star-studded roster featuring returning champions Nneka Ogwumike and Ezi Magbegor, the Storm are poised for a strong campaign. Joining them are marquee additions like six-time WNBA All-Star Skylar Diggins, 2024 European Player of the Year Gabby Williams, and Alysha Clark, a three-time WNBA champion, is returning to the Seattle Storm, where she played for nine seasons and won championships in 2018 and 2020. This marks her first time back in Seattle since leaving the team in 2021.
The Connecticut Sun, perennial contenders in the league, bring plenty of firepower to the court as well, led by WNBA Champion Natasha Cloud, former league MVP Tina Charles, and standout rookie Jacy Sheldon, the No. 5 overall pick in the 2024 draft.
The two teams split their 2024 regular season series 2-1 in Seattle’s favor and are scheduled to meet four times this season.
While the Storm’s core roster is gaining attention, fans are also eager to see the team’s newest additions.
The 2025 rookie class includes Dominique Malonga (No. 2 pick), Serena Sundell (No. 26), Madison Conner (No. 29), and Jordan Hobbs (No. 34).
Malonga, a two-time EuroCup monthly MVP and silver medalist with France, recently wrapped up her season with ASVEL Féminin and is expected to join the Storm this weekend — although she will not play on Sunday.
“That’s great news,” coach Noelle Quinn said. “Our group is growing, so it’ll be good to have Dom here to learn and pick up concepts and just to see her in action.”
“It’s a lot of excitement for me,” Malonga said in a recent interview with CBS Sports’ We Need to Talk. “We don’t really have fans like this in France, so I can’t wait to see what it’s like to play in a full house in front of thousands of people. I also heard a lot of good things about Seattle, so I’m excited to discover a new culture and live in the U.S. for the first time.”
The Seattle Storm confirmed that Ezi Magbegor and Gabby Williams will not be playing on Sunday. Magbegor and Williams reported for training camp, but have not practiced this week. The team plans to slowly ramp up their participation next week.
Fans can secure seats for Sunday’s preseason action — and for the rest of the season — through a variety of ticket options, including Season Tickets, Mini Plans, Flex Plans, Group Outings, and Premium Experiences.
