THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. — Thurston County deputies are on the hunt for a 27-year-old man wanted for multiple felony crimes after allegedly shooting at a deputy with an AR-15 during a pursuit.
The fugitive, identified as Damien Madison, is considered armed and dangerous, and has multiple felony warrants against him, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Madison was last seen near the Chehalis Western Trail, close to Waldrick Road and Stedman Road. He was wearing a black hat with a red bill, a black T-shirt, and sunglasses, wrote the TCSO. A spokesperson for the TCSO told KOMO News this is at least the third time that Madison has taken officers on a vehicle pursuit.
Madison was the passenger in a car that deputies tried to pull over on Thursday. He then had the driver of the car speed away. As this happened, deputies say he deliberately tossed items at the deputies, trying to make them crash their cars, according to the TCSO.
Madison eventually fired an AR-15 at deputies, piercing one of the cars several times. A deputy avoided being hit by less than a foot.
Madison was previously wanted for a drive-by shooting and also first-degree assault, the TCSO noted.
The TCSO spokesperson told KOMO News he’s known about Madison for several years and has repeatedly warned the courts that if they don’t get tough against him, he’ll keep committing violent crimes.
Madison is described as 5 fe, weighing 170 pounds, with brown eyes and dark hair.
The TCSO urged the public to call 911 immediately if Madison is seen. They also warned not to approach him.
