Officers found multiple gunshot victims at a home in southwest Catawba County. One person has died, while another is in critical condition.
HICKORY, N.C. — One person is dead and more than a dozen others were hurt in a mass shooting early Sunday morning near Hickory, the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office said on Sunday.
Twelve people were shot with one victim confirmed dead and another in critical condition, according to police information as of 6 a.m.
The deadly shooting happened at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday morning. Authorities found multiple gunshot victims at a home Walnut Acres Drive in the Mountain View area of southwest Catawba County.
One person has died, while another remains in critical condition, officials said. The conditions of the other ten victims were not immediately released.
No arrests have been made as of Sunday morning and authorities have not released information about potential suspects.
A multi-agency investigation is currently underway, with sheriff’s investigators working alongside Hickory Police Department investigators and Special Agents from the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
