This comes after a drive by shooting this past weekend, no one was physically injured but neighbors say the emotional toll has been devastating.
MOORESVILLE, N.C. — A quiet Mooresville neighborhood was left reeling after a drive-by shooting Friday night that damaged multiple homes and left residents fearing for their safety.
According to witnesses, gunfire erupted unexpectedly in the darkness, sending families ducking for cover as bullets struck several residences.
“We thought maybe somebody was shot dead or something, we didn’t know,” one concerned neighbor who witnessed the incident said.
In one home, a bullet pierced through a wall and struck a painting of Jesus hanging inside the residence.
“Jesus was protecting us at the moment otherwise my wife, my mom, and I would have got killed,” the homeowner said.
The shooting has left many residents afraid, with some only willing to speak about the incident off the record. One neighbor described the alarming scene: “I looked out and I saw that my neighbors were out here, which was a little concerning because they have kids.”
Community members are now calling for answers and accountability, saying these steps are essential for them to feel safe in their homes again.
The Mooresville Police Department has not yet provided details about the incident or announced any arrests. Officials indicated more information would be forthcoming.
