It was a Garden party … outside the Garden.
Thousands of frenzied Knicks fans took over Seventh Avenue Friday night to celebrate the team’s dominating win over the Boston Celtics in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals — with some climbing poles and one burning a rival jacket outside Madison Square Garden.
Knicks faithful roared as a sea of blue and orange poured out into the streets outside MSG, exulting the shocking series upset that culminated with a blow-out victory over the defending champions.
Victorious chants filled the air — as did bananas, several glass bottles, a parking cone and at least one shoe.
“I saw a lot of things thrown,” Jermey Montero, 25, told The Post.
“People were all scrunched up, and they were pushing each other, and they pushed so hard that they pushed the barricades down onto the street,” he added. “And then everybody just ran onto the street. That’s when the cops started to come, yeah, because it got hectic.
“I got a little claustrophobic, yeah, but it’s all good now.”
“We saw bras flying,” Bronx resident Sjthedonn, 18, said, adding that he sprained his ankle in the celebratory madness. “But I’m OK.
“Everybody was pretty much celebrating the victory, and then when it was time to leave, and people got tired, the crowd got so big that everybody was squishing each other.”
The scene “felt like a concert riot,” his pal, Brooklynite Wick Baby, 20, added.
“Yeah, it definitely did. And then when everybody tried to disperse and leave, there was no space,” Sjthedonn said. “People were trying to come in to see the riot … that friction kind of caused a lot of pushing, a lot of pushing back and forth … And people fell over and started fights.”
Video showed shirtless fans climbing light poles on Joe Louis Avenue and 33rd Street, with others climbing on top of a taxi kiosk as hundreds of people gawked and recorded on their cellphones.
Another showed off their callisthenic feats of strength on the 32nd Street sign to the delight of the crowd, video online showed.
Another Knicks fan lit a Celtics jacket on fire and held it up triumphantly like a prized pelt.
However, the dense crowd on Seventh parted for a car carrying the most famous Knickerbocker fan, Brooklyn native Spike Lee — who stuck his head out of the sunroof and greeted the faithful with fist bumps and peace signs in papal fashion, according to video posted to X.
Fans were ready to turn their attention to the Eastern Conference Finals matchup against the archrival Indiana Pacers, who eliminated the Knicks in a seven-game series in the second round last year.
Beloved Knicks Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart are off-the-court friends with Tyrese Haliburton — the captain even facing off against his pal in the WWE ring last summer.
The first game in the series is on Wednesday back at the Mecca.
