COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A new health care hub is set to transform the Eastland neighborhood, providing a comprehensive range of services to an estimated 33,000 patients annually.

The facility, a collaboration between Ohio State University and the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, will offer medical, dental, and pharmacy services, among others. OSU’s College of Nursing will operate a clinic within the center.

“It will be a space for practitioners to practice, for students to learn, for opportunity to grow, and most importantly, for neighbors to gain access to care they need to live healthier, happier lives,” said Dr. Karen Rose, dean of OSU’s College of Nursing.

The hub will also feature a free grocery market, city programming, and social services. Matt Habash, President and CEO of the Mid-Ohio Food Collective, emphasized the importance of integrating health care and nutrition.

“We’ve learned from a long time ago in our diabetes research that for people that are food insecure, could they manage their diabetes if they don’t have access to right food,” said Habash. “So if we can combine that together, as people are talking to their doctors, and then get referrals to come in and to get nutritious food, all in the same space, everybody wins.”

Construction is slated to begin in June, with the facility expected to be operational by the second half of 2026.
