COLUMBUS, Ohio (WSYX) — A Franklin County grand jury indicted a man and a woman on several charges after a 62-year-old man was beaten to death in Prairie Township.

Anthony Kuhn, 43, and Nichole Adkins, 42, are accused of murder in connection with the death of a man, identified by the Franklin County Coroner’s Office as Phillip Baldwin, last week in the 6000 block of Hall Road.

The victim was found lying on the floor, with “substantial head injuries, including an open skull fracture, and his right ear was nearly severed from his head,” court documents said.

Deputies say Kuhn and Adkins had been allowed to stay on the property in a camper located near the residence. The two allegedly stole items from inside the home, and Kuhn is accused of assaulting Baldwin.

Court documents said Adkins threw the victim’s wallet and work hat in a sewer drain basin after the pair went into Columbus to reportedly buy narcotics. Kuhn is accused of ditching stolen items and bloody clothes at an apartment complex dumpster.

A grand jury indicted them Friday on multiple charges of aggravated murder, aggravated burglary, murder, theft, and tampering with evidence. They are set to be arraigned in Franklin County Common Pleas on May 14.

A municipal court judge previously set Kuhn’s bond at $2 million. Adkins reportedly refused to appear.
